Marrakesh, also called the Red City, is an amazing place to get lost..
It is the fourth largest city in Morocco, after Casablanca, Fès and Tangier and probably the most important city when it comes to Tourism. From there you can explore Morocco in every direction and for most travellers it is a place to rest before heading to the Sahara Desert. It is very well conected to all the interesting places in Morocco, via train or bus, and to the whole world via airplane. The cheap Airline RyanAir flies here every week from all destinations; Sometimes for just 20€ from the bigger citys in Europe.
In the Summermonths, from June until September the Average high is over 30°C (86°F) with around 10 sunny hours every day. But even in the Wintermonths the temperature is not going lower than 0°C (32°F).
One of the most popular places in Marrakesh is the Main Square Jemma el-Fnaa, which is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. From 3 o’clock pm on you meet acrobats, story-tellers, snake charmers, dancing and musican groups there.
Near this square you find qnother important attraction of Marrakesh – the Berber market, also called Souk. You find really everything there: from carpets, over leather in everykind of way, jewellery, lamps, porcelain, traditonal clothes (Jilabah) or lanterns. Very important here is the Haggling. It is part of the polite small talk while buying things. But be carefull and don’t let them trick you – most of the time you can lower the price at least 50%, if not even more.
Also in and arround Marrakesh you find different kind of gardes (for example the Jardin Majorelle) and Palaces or Mosques. Sadly non of the mosques in Marrakech are open for non-muslim people. The only two mosques in Morocco you can vists are in Casablanca and Fes.
